Yesterday President Obama signed the 787 Billion Dollar economic stimulus package into law. It will take some time for this money to filter through the system and results to be seen, but it's a start. Now the President will work on getting a 50 Billion dollar package passed to help homeowners who are in trouble. We hope the the republicans can put aside their political agenda long enough to help Pres. Obama get the country back on track. Obama sounded more like he did during his campaigns rallying his audience with a passionate appeal. Pres. Obama appears to be trying to muscle the stimulus package through congress. Since time is of the essence I hope he is successful. The republicans are more hung up on tax cuts than looking for a bipartisan solution to America's economic woes. Hopefully, the senate will pass the stimulus today and the country can start to get back on its feet.

Last night the House of Representatives passed the huge stimulus package that President Obama was pushing for. Inspite of his efforts to get Republicans on board not one voted to pass the package. Message to the Republicans come up with a better idea instead disparing this stimulus. All Republicans talk about is more tax cuts for businesses, but that doesn't guarantee that these businesses will hire anyone. Enough with the partisansip already and get a proper bill passed.

Yesterday President-elect Barack Obama expressed mounting concern overn the rising civilian death toll in the Gaza Conflict. His hands are tied now because he will not attain power until Jan. 20th. Obama says he will have a lot more to say about the conflict then. Israeli troops have surrounded Gaza in an attempt to stop Hamas from launching missiles into Israel. A UN school was bombed an 40 innocent people were killed. Isrealis claim they were under fire from that location. It's time for the political leaders of both parties to bring this conflict to an end there are too many innocents being killed for no reason, especially on the Palestinian side where over 500 have been killed.

The big 3 automakers are closing their plants for longer than usual because they claim they have no money to operate. Chrysler appears to be in the worst shape having to close all of their plants and putting 46,000 employees on extended christmas break. This looks like a tactic to force the government into giving them some bailout money. While I don't agree with my tax dollars going to subsidize inefficient companies I don't want to see hundreds of thousands lose their job. As usual the regular people will suffer either way this high stakes game of chicken goes. These companies have no loyalty and only care about profits and the present administration only cares about war. I hope they finally get it together and realize that without people there would be no big 3 or any government to begin with.

Last night the Obama cam released a statement that they were considering Hillary Clinton for Secretary Of State. There was wide speculation that Clinton was up for the nomination but now it has been made official. The main stumbling block in the vetting process has been the fund raising activities of Bill Clinton. The Obama camp wants him to disclose his finances but he has been slow to do so. Pundits believe that a deal will be made and that Hillary will receive the nomination sometime after Thanksgiving. Both Republicans and Democrats agree that Mrs. Clinton is more than qualified for this post and that she should be confirmed for the post. In the meantime because of the continuing downward spiral of the economy Obama is coming under increasing pressure to pick a Treasury Secretary to replace the disaster that is Henry Paulson. Let's hope our leaders can get their act together and put aside politics for the good of the country.

Yesterday Japan, the 2nd largest economy in the world,declared it was in recession for the 1st time since 2001. Obviously since Americans purchase many Japanese products our own yet to be declared recession has affected their economy adversely. For some reason the outgoing administration has yet to call our current economic crisis a recession. I suppose President Bush doesn't want to add "caused recession" to his legacy. It's a difficult road ahead for incoming President Obama, hopefully he can get things on track before the end of his administration.

I'm just about to hurry out and cast my vote and I will be voting for Barack Obama! I feel Obama is the right man for the job. When he first came onto the scene I wasn't so sure about him, but after watching him for months it is clear to me that he can restore our country to prominence. We need someone who can galvanize all cultures and races so that we all can get through these tough economic times. John McCain has generally run a divisive campaign and he is out of touch with what we need right now. We need to get the economy back on track, we need to end that senseless war in Iraq and we need to regain confidence in our leaders. John McCain's policies won't be much different that George Bush's and we all know how those policies (or lack thereof) turned out! So folks lets make history and elect the candidate that will do the right thing and that man is Barack Obama! It's going to be difficult but he knows how to bring people together and he knows what we need. John McCain is one of the old guard (in his case literally) and it's time to change the driver and get fresh eyes and new energy at the wheel. John McCain holds the promise of the past, but Barack Obama holds the promise of the future. As George Santayana once said "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it". We can ill afford to continue the mistakes of the past 8 years but voting for John McCain. Vote for Barack Obama - He's The Only Sensible Choice!
